David Garvie

A funeral director for 35 years, a husband of Gloria for 30 years and a father of 2 wonderful boys, Nathan 22 and Aaron 17, David has been called “one of the happiest people in Canada”. He was “found” by a researcher and award winning filmmaker in 2005 who featured him in a Canadian documentary “In Pursuit of Happiness” which aired June 2006. He was selected for being a truly happy person, who happened to be a funeral director. In a recent appearance on the Oprah Show (April 2007), he was voted by the audience as the happiest person in the panel of five people. David is humourous, positive, and joyful in his approach to life and he knows the joy that comes from walking in his purpose, destiny and calling. For David, it’s not so much about finding “success” but finding “significance” in your life. He is passionate about what he does in his role as general manager of the Ogden Funeral Home in Toronto as well as being a volunteer pre-school teacher and percussionist at his church.
